Information for Prospective Competitors

Prelims

Depending on the number of competitors, it may be required to attend a preliminary competition (“prelims”) to allow a second set of judges to assess and eliminate some competitors in order to meet the time requirements in the competition.

If prelims are required, competitors will be contacted by email informing them of the time and location of these prelims. You must attend the prelims in order to be considered to perform at the Dance Competition. If you have any difficulty with attending the prelims, please contact events@newanthrodam.com.

What you perform in prelims must be your on-stage performance.

Competitor Requirements

There is no age limit to compete. However, if you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must chaperone you at both the prelims (if required) and the Dance Competition.

You must have at least a head and handpaws to compete in the Dance Competition. Since it is more difficult to dance in fursuit than it is without a costume, it is unfair to compare someone dancing without a fursuit to someone that is. Therefore, a fursuit is required to compete.

Your choreography must be original to you and not reused at another event previously.

Your audio of choice must be under 2 minutes and 30 seconds in length and not contain any profanity, or mention any explicit topics, as the Dance Competition is an all-ages event. Event staff will not be able to help edit any audio, so please make sure that your audio is ready for production upon submitting.

Groups

We allow groups to perform in our Dance Competition, however we ask you follow some additional guidelines:

  • Group dances are allowed up to 3 minutes of audio.
  • Groups are limited to 5 people max for safety reasons.
  • Groups will be judged alongside solo acts. There will be no separate categories for group dances.

Code of Conduct

All competitors must follow our Code of Conduct. Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in cancellation of your performance, or restrictions on participating in any future competitions.
