Code of Conduct
The rules that keep New Anthrodam safe and welcoming
Last updated June 15, 2026
General Rating of the Convention
New Anthrodam is considered an all ages convention meaning the general rating of the con would be considered PG with the exception of events, areas, or exhibits that are explicitly noted to be inappropriate for minors with access for adults only.
Any actions that can be considered excessively disruptive to convention operations, exceedingly discomforting to fellow con goers, or damaging of the convention’s relationships with the venue, guests, or the public may result in your attendance privileges being revoked.
Public displays of affection should be kept to those appropriate for polite company. Please express your devotion to your significant other either in appropriate ways, or in private.
Clothing Guidelines
(PPE) Personal Protective Gear must be worn when required by either the convention or the venue.
Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn when in areas of the venue that are accessible to non-attendees, such as the venue lobby and restaurants. Full-body fursuits qualify provided that the costume is not overly suggestive. Fursuiters must respect the policies of the venue regarding areas where costumes are not allowed.
When in public areas, attendees may not wear clothing or accessories which are overly revealing, inappropriate to the atmosphere of the convention, or likely to draw reasonable complaints or offense. This includes clothing or accessories that are fetish-related or restrict mobility, such as a leash attached to an otherwise acceptable collar.
Outside of fursuits for which the inclusion of a uniform as a costume accessory is obvious, tactical gear, Emergency Services uniforms, or other outfits which may be mistaken for such are only to be worn by emergency personnel on active duty.
In some instances, clothing or accessories that might be otherwise considered inappropriate may be included as part of a costume if specific approval is granted by New Anthrodam’s Safety Team.
Public Decorum
We ask that all attendees follow common-sense rules for behavior and interactions with others. We ask that you be kind, respectful, and responsible. We are here to create memories with our friends and community.
For the comfort and safety of everyone, disruptive behaviors such as fighting, horseplay, reckless behavior, and excessive noise are not permitted. In many cases, these behaviors may also be illegal. Loud and excessive use of explicit language or obscene gestures will be considered harassment and treated as such.
Physical Contact
Consent is paramount at New Anthrodam. Be respectful and ask permission before initiating any physical contact such as hugs, pets, and other types of affection. It does not matter how cute they are, you still need to ask! Please do not grab fursuits or costume tails, noses, or other extremities without permission, as this can cause damage.
The furry community is known for its friendly hugging, scratching, and holding hands, all of which are acceptable with consent. However, please keep in mind that not all people may share the same views of what is acceptable public behavior. Use common sense, and if you feel the need to express deep physical affection, we ask that you kindly retire to your hotel room. Do not make the staff have to ask you to stop – it’s uncomfortable for us and embarrassing for you.
Harassment Policies
Harassment, defined as unwelcome and offensive conduct, will not be tolerated, and will be strictly enforced.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for racism, discrimination, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, hate speech, or bias-based action against anyone or any group.
No Means No
Respect requests to be left alone. Fursuits, costumes, and cosplay do not constitute any level of consent for any form of physical interaction or unwanted commentary.
Consent
Fursuits, costumes, and cosplay are not consent. You do not have the right to touch, comment on, or harass someone (“cat calling”) because of what they are wearing.
False Reports
False reports or accusations will be treated as a form of harassment. False reporting of a crime is illegal. Any incidents involving the false reporting of a crime will be referred to law enforcement.
Violation of these guidelines may result in badge revocation and possible law enforcement referral.
Prop and Weapon Policies
For the safety of all staff and attendees, New Anthrodam is enforcing a strict ban on weapons throughout the venue. If it looks like a weapon, or could easily be mistaken for one, it is prohibited. Functional weapons are prohibited outright; a valid CCW permit, weapon carry permit, or any other permit DOES NOT override this policy.
If you’re unsure whether your prop is appropriate, please contact the Safety Team through the help center. If you have any questions during the event, feel free to speak with a member of the Safety staff.
Absolutely no real or functioning weapons are allowed in convention spaces. This includes but is not limited to real firearms, bladed weapons, chemical agents such as pepper spray or mace, tasers, stun guns, impact weapons such as batons, slingshots, bows / crossbows, or any other object designed to cause or easily capable of causing harm. New Anthrodam retains the sole authority to decide whether an object is or is not allowed under this policy.
Hotel
Please do not enter areas you are not permitted to access. This includes crossing barriers set up by the convention (such as curtains or ropes) and areas of the hotel where guests are not usually permitted.
Please respect the con venue space. For example, please only affix stickers to convention-approved or supplied sticker boards.
We ask that no items of any kind are thrown, flown, or dropped from the venue’s public areas. We also ask that no water pistols, silly string, or any thrown, flown, or projectile items be used in any area of the venue.
Please do not sleep in the venue lobby or event spaces; return to your hotel room, or home.
All New Anthrodam attendees must abide by instructions given by New Anthrodam’s Safety Team. Failure to do so will result in the loss of attendance privileges. Any disputes may be addressed onsite at Convention Operations.
New Anthrodam convention space is open only to those with a valid badge, and these badges must be worn at all times in the convention space. A badge is valid only for the person to whom it was issued; badges may not be shared under any circumstance.
Attendance by Minors
Anyone who is under the age of 18 years at any time during the convention must present a signed parental permission form (or consent assignment form) unless accompanied by a parent or able to produce evidence of legal emancipation. There are no exceptions.
Minors are not permitted under any circumstances to enter areas designated for mature audiences.
Anyone providing false documentation of identity or age will be denied membership and reported to law enforcement.
Drug & Alcohol Guidelines
The possession or use of alcohol is prohibited in all public areas of the convention (excluding bars or restaurants). The legal age to buy and consume alcoholic beverages in New York is 21 years of age. Anyone who knowingly provides alcoholic beverages to a person under the age of 21 will have their membership revoked and may be turned over to law enforcement.
To ensure a safe, healthy and enjoyable experience for all attendees, New Anthrodam prohibits the use or distribution of illegal/illicit substances during our events. Anyone found to be involved in the sale, possession, or distribution of illegal/illicit substances will face revocation of their membership, exclusion from future events, and potential referral to law enforcement.
